외국어 습득의 첫 걸음

Mother tongue acquisition follows a progression from lexical to grammatical processes. As with first language acquisition, a similar lexical-to-grammatical direction seems to be the case for second language acquisition.  Early second language productions are mainly lexical. As with first language acquisition, a similar lexical-to-grammatical direction seems to be the case for second language acquisition. 모국어 습득과 마찬가지로, 제2언어도 어휘에서 문법 순의 습득단계를 거치는 것 같다. Early second language productions are mainly lexical. 제2언어를 배우는 초기 단계의 표현활동은 주로 어휘 수준이다. If there is any grammar it seems rather hit-and-miss. 이 단계에 문법적 요소가 나타난다면, 이는 가끔 일어나는 현상일 뿐이다.     * lexical : connected with the words of a language * hit-and-miss : 들쭉날쭉한    Chan's Advice!   오늘 내용은 사람이 말을 배우게 되는 단계에 대한 설명입니다. 이는 누구나 처음부터 완전한 문장으로 말할 수는 없다는 뜻입니다. 처음에는 모국어든 외국어든 어휘나 구 단위로 말을 하다가 차츰 문장 단위로 말할 수 있게 됩니다. 그런데 한국의 영어교육은 어떻습니까? 처음부터 관사도 붙이고 시제도 제대로 사용해서 말하도록 가르칩니다. 불가능한 것을 강요합니다. 그러다 보니 한국인은 영어 공부한 시간에 비해 유창성 발달 측면에서는 세계 꼴찌를 면하기 어렵습니다. 앞으로 초급자에게는 마음껏 어휘 단위, 구 단위로 말하게 해주어야 합니다. 틀리는 것에 대해 바로 고쳐주는 일도 삼가야 합니다. 아래 A와 같은 대화도 나쁘게 생각하지 말아야 합니다.   [대화A] A: coffee? B: Please. A: Milk? B: Just a drop. [대화B] A: Would you care for some coffee? B: Yes, please. A: Do you take milk (in your coffee)? B: Yes, just a drop, please.
